Our Purpose
Living Water Community Church exists to help people develop a relationship with Jesus Christ and to deepen that relationship in order to display that relationship in our church, our community and our world. To achieve this purpose, we have a three-part aim:

To Know Him -

this is accomplished primarily through a dynamic relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

To Grow in Him -

this is accomplished primarily through discipleship, both personal and corporate. Our Church family is committed to the teaching of the whole Bible.

To Show Him -

this is accomplished primarily through outreach and maintaining a Godly lifestyle. Sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who do not know Him as Savior is a mandate given to all believers.

Our Church's Affiliation
Living Water Community Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Our Statement of Faith
We affirm that the 66 books of the Old and New Testament are the Scriptures and that sole authoritative source of written revelation from God. The statement of faith contained in the 18 articles known as "The Baptist Faith and Message" adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention on June 14, 2000, represents a summary of the major doctrines of the Christian faith as held by Living Water Community Church.

Meet Pastor Mike Nerney
I was born August 4, 1967 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. I grew up in the Catholic faith, attending parochial schools for 13 years. My parents divorced when I was 12. When Mom remarried, our family moved to Haverhill, MA and began attending a Bible study. For the next 8 rebellious years, I wrestled with the reality of my newly found need to accept Jesus Christ alone for my salvation. Finally, in October 1988, at the age of 21, in my college dorm room outside of Boston, I asked Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior.

1988 was the same year that I met my future wife, Suzanne. I was completing a college internship at the company where she worked. Over the next year, our friendship opened up the opportunity to share the gospel message with her. In January 1990, Suzanne accepted Christ as her Savior. We were engaged in April of that year, and married on September 14, 1991.

For the next 7 years, I worked in the area of corporate accounting. The Lord blessed us during that time with 2 awesome children, Jordan in December 1994 and Jonathan in April 1997. In August 1998, I sensed the clear call of God to abandon the house and the career in order to prepare for full-time Christian ministry. In January 1999, we moved our family to Wake Forest, NC, to pursue a seminary degree, which I earned in December 2001.

Prior to coming to Maine, I served for 3 years as Minister of Administration at a large Southern Baptist church in Raleigh, NC. I have participated in mission trips to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Moldova (eastern Europe), as well as Chicago and Boston. It's an understatement to say that I enjoy baseball. Better stated, our family's passion is the Boston Red Sox! I began serving here at Living Water on December 1, 2002. Our family counts it a privilege to serve our Living Water church family.
